A SIPP offers the widest possible choice of investments, allowing holders to pick funds from across the market. These could include different types of investment, including unit trusts, OEICS, shares, bonds, gilts, futures and options, commercial property and more. Another big point that irritates many people is that the death benenfit of some old plans does not have a "return of fund" they have a "return of contributions", which can be quite a considerable difference if the plan is quite old. Some SIPPs will also allow you to invest in commercial properties, such as shops or offices. A SIPP can borrow upto 50% of its own value to buy a comercial property.
